This program is for students considering owning their own business or working for a small business. The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management program will prepare students for self-employment and careers in small business. The program includes instruction and training in evaluating small business ideas and opportunities, developing skills and understanding the resources necessary to start a business.
Anyone can start a business. The problem, however, is that many people don’t know what’s involved, don’t know the risks and don’t have the skills to start and successfully operate a business or work for an already existing business. At the completion of this program, students will not only have a degree, but also will have newly-developed practical skills to feel confident to start and successfully run a small business.
This program is directly focused on the practical, hands-on aspects of small business. Success starts here at MHCC.
At the completion of this program, the student should be able to:
Construct a feasibility study
Prepare a comprehensive business plan
Demonstrate working knowledge of a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement
Explain how to use a small business credit policy
Describe operational and organizational structures
Demonstrate primary management skills
