Clinical Science – OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational Therapy at Brunel is one of the largest, longest established, and most highly regarded programs globally. We are the original ‘London School of Occupational Therapy’. At Brunel we combine excellence in teaching with pioneering research and have acquired an international reputation for progressive and innovative research in many areas of health and social care. The breadth and depth of our clinical and social care expertise has allowed us to deliver high quality graduate, postgraduate and doctoral education.
Being in London, we have placement opportunities that provide experience of working in mainstream NHS, social care and non-statutory services with a range of culturally and socially diverse service user groups. Additionally we are also able to offer unique placement experiences within internationally renowned centres of research and clinical excellence throughout London.
Our courses are designed and taught by experts who are nationally and internationally recognised; we use our research and practice expertise to ensure that the courses provided are evidence based, current and closely linked to practice demands.
For those wishing to follow a pre-registration programme that will allow them to qualify as an occupational therapist, as well as be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Social Care Professions Council, we offer two pre-registration routes:
Undergraduate level full time three year pre-registration BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy
Postgraduate level full time two year MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-registration), for applicants who already have a related first degree.
For qualified occupational therapists we offer post graduate programmes in Occupational Therapy, Neurorehabilitation, Ageing Studies, Health Information for Clinical Management, Public Health and Health Promotion.
Individual MSc modules can be studied on a standalone basis supporting continuing professional development. Modules can also be linked to form a Post Graduate Certificate or Post Graduate Diploma.
In addition we also offer a credit rated short course, Foundation of Practice Placement in Occupational Therapy for practice placement educators.
UK/EU students are usually allocated a NHS funded place on the Undergraduate BSc or MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-registration) program and there is a means tested bursary available for UK students on the commissioned places.
We have increasing attracted overseas students, adding to richness of our programs of study and increasing the diversity of our student population.
